Flammable Gas Kya Hoti Hai?

Common examples of flammable gases

Flammable Gas: Indian Regulatory Definition

Official reference: PESO – Gas Cylinders Rules, 2016.

Important Safety Note:

Flammable Gas Ke Prakar (Types of Flammable Gas)

1. Hydrocarbon-Based Flammable Gases

2. Non-Hydrocarbon Flammable Gases

3. Toxic and Flammable Gases

  • Carbon Monoxide (CO): Highly toxic और flammable gas।

4. Pyrophoric and Speciality Flammable Gases

Important Note:

Examples of Flammable & Non-Flammable Gases (Quick Table)

NitrogenN₂Non-FlammableIndustrial Inerting, Purging
Carbon DioxideCO₂Non-FlammableFire Suppression, Beverage Industry
ArgonArNon-FlammableWelding Shielding, Industrial Processes
HeliumHeNon-FlammableLeak Detection, Cryogenics, Balloons
OxygenO₂Non-Flammable (Oxidizer)Medical Oxygen, Industrial Cutting
Water Vapour (Steam)H₂ONon-FlammablePower Generation, Industrial Heating
Important:
Safety Warning:

Flammable Gas Classification (By Explosion Limits)

1. What is LEL (Lower Explosive Limit)?

2. What is UEL (Upper Explosive Limit)?

Example: Methane Gas
Methane का सामान्य LEL लगभग 5% और UEL लगभग 15% by volume in air होता है।
  • Below 5%: Mixture too lean
  • Between 5% and 15%: Mixture flammable range
  • Above 15%: Mixture too rich

4. LEL and UEL Values of Common Flammable Gases

Flammable GasChemical FormulaLEL (%)UEL (%)
HydrogenH₂4.075.0
MethaneCH₄5.015.0
PropaneC₃H₈2.19.5
n-ButaneC₄H₁₀1.88.4
AcetyleneC₂H₂2.5100*

Important Technical Note:

5. Why Are LEL and UEL Important in Fire Safety?

Common Risks of Flammable Gas

Risk TypeExplanation

Key Flammability Parameters of Gases (LEL, UEL & Autoignition Temperature)

1. LEL (Lower Explosive Limit)

2. UEL (Upper Explosive Limit)

3. Autoignition Temperature (AIT)

4. Flash Point – Is It Applicable to Gases?

ParameterWhat It IndicatesFire Safety Importance

GHS Label vs UN Transport Label

What To Do During a Gas Leak? (Emergency Response)

Immediate Actions During a Gas Leak

  • Evacuate the affected area:
  • Avoid electrical switches: Leak area में lights, switches, appliances, plugs या electrical equipment को ON/OFF न करें।
  • Avoid ignition sources: Smoking, open flames, welding, grinding और अन्य spark-producing activities तुरंत रोकें।
  • Do not operate powered ventilation: Leak area
  • Do not approach the leak:
  • Raise the alarm: Industrial premises

What to Do During a Domestic LPG Leak

What to Do During an Industrial Gas Leak

What NOT To Do During a Gas Leak

Frequently Asked Questions About Flammable Gas

1. Flammable Gas

8. Flammable Gas Leak

9. Gas Leak
